What is RentASure?

RentASure is a verified review platform where tenants and landlords can rate each other based on structured, rating-only reviews. It helps build trust and transparency in rental relationships.

How is RentASure different from other review sites?

We use identity verification (ID.me) and require lease uploads to ensure that only people with verified rental relationships can leave reviews. Reviews are based on pre-selected rating categories, with no open-ended comments to reduce bias and abuse.

Account & Verification

How do I create an account?

Click "Get Started" and verify your identity through ID.me. Choose whether you're a tenant or landlord and upload a lease or rental agreement to confirm your rental history.

Why do I need to verify my identity?

Verification protects all users and ensures that only real tenants and landlords leave reviews. We use ID.me, a trusted third-party identity verification service.

What documents do I need to provide?

You'll need a valid photo ID (for ID.me) and a copy of your lease or rental agreement.

Reviews

How do reviews work?

After verification, you can rate your landlord or tenant on up to 20 predefined categories (like communication, payment reliability, property care, etc.). Ratings use a 1–10 scale.

Can I write custom comments in my review?

No. RentASure uses structured reviews only to keep feedback objective and reduce bias.

Can I edit or delete my review later?

Once submitted, reviews cannot be changed or deleted, except under special circumstances approved by our support team.

Will the other person know I reviewed them?

Yes. Once you submit a review, the other party will receive a text or email notification prompting them to log in and view it.

Rental Passport & Reports

What is a Rental Passport?

The Rental Passport is a verified summary of your reviews and ratings. Tenants can use it to show future landlords their trustworthy track record.

How do I earn a Rental Passport?

By submitting a review of your previous rental relationship, you receive one free Rental Passport.

Can I buy a Rental Passport?

Yes. If you need additional Rental Passports or report access, you can purchase them directly on the platform.

How can landlords access reviews of tenants?

Landlords can search for a tenant's name. If a profile exists, they can purchase a report or use a Rental Passport to unlock it.

Payments & Subscriptions

How does RentASure make money?

Through subscriptions (for landlords) and one-time purchases of Rental Passports and review reports.

Do I have to pay to leave a review?

No. Reviewing is free. However, accessing reports or additional Rental Passports may require payment.

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept major credit and debit cards through Stripe.

Privacy & Security

Does RentASure share my personal information?

No. We do not sell or rent personal data. Review scores and verification statuses are shared only as outlined in our Privacy Policy.

Is RentASure a background check service?

No. RentASure is not a background check or credit reporting service. We provide user-submitted reviews for informational purposes only.
